14 May 2020

Dear SNA+MC2020 Registrants and Participants,
Thank you for your cooperation in the questionnaire.
Considering the results, we have decided to publish the proceedings collection as the best alternative option. The proceedings collection will be prepared by integrating your submitted abstracts or proceedings papers to be submitted. We will send participants the completed proceedings collection and certificates of payment and attendance (via e-mail) as soon as possible after 22 June 2020. With this, the conference is considered to be officially held. If you will participate in the conference, complete your registration and payment of registration fee (90,000 yen, or 30,000 yen for students) by 23:59(Japan Standard Time) 28 May 2020 in the registration page (https://amarys-jtb.jp/snamc2020/).
If you have already payed the registration fee and want to cancel your participation, e-mail us your nonparticipation by 23:59 (JST) 28 May 2020. Then, the payment will be refund. If we do not receive any response, we regard you as a participant. If you have already payed the registration fee more than the above-mentioned fee and will participate in the conference, the balance will be refund. We will disclose the program book which include titles and authors on the SNA+MC2020 website (http://snamc2020.jpn.org/) as soon as possible after 1 June 2020.
If you wish to write a proceedings paper, submit a WORD file of your 2-8 pages proceedings paper created based on template to the contact email address by 23:59 (JST) 19 June 2020. Submitted proceedings papers are peer reviewed. For participants who do not wish to write a proceedings paper, we will publish your submitted abstract only.
We appreciate your understanding of this decision and your cooperation.
With best wishes,
SNA+MC2020 Organizing Committee

1 April 2020

Dear SNA+MC2020 Registrants and Participants,
Unfortunately, due to the global spread of the COVID-19, it is not possible to host the conference as originally planned for 18-22 May 2020 at Makuhari Messe in Japan. We do not plan to reschedule the meeting itself. However, we are considering alternative options for publishing registrants’ research.
The Organizing Committee will decide on an alternative plan and notify the result by the end of April.
Best regards,
SNA+MC2020 Organizing Committee

Overview:
Here we, the Computational Science & Engineering Division (CSED) of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan, would like to announce that the next international “Supercomputing in Nuclear Applications (SNA) and Monte Carlo (MC)” (SNA+MC 2020) conference will be held in Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, 18-22 May 2020.

The first joint SNA+MC conference was held in 2010 in Tokyo, Japan, organized by JAEA. The second conference was hosted by CEA in Paris, 2013, and the third was organized by ANS as a combined Mathematical & Computation (M&C), SNA+MC conference in Nashville, USA, 2015.

SNA+MC 2020 will cover not only the traditional conference topics, but also special topics relevant to Fukushima Recovery & Decommissioning, Virtual Reactor & Virtual ADS, AI Technologies in the Nuclear Field, and Monte Carlo Simulation for Medical and Life Science.

Welcome Message:
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I look forward to welcoming you to the Joint International Conference on Supercomputing in Nuclear Applications + Monte Carlo 2020 (SNA+MC 2020) on 18-22 May 2020 at Makuhari Messe in Japan.

Supercomputers are useful tools for nuclear science and engineering to carry out massive simulations for design, safety, maintenance, etc. Monte Carlo simulation is one of typical ones which exploit supercomputers. The main topics of SNA+MC 2020 are computational nuclear applications, high performance computing and visualization, and Monte Carlo simulation for radiation transport. We prepared special topics of Fukushima recovery & decommissioning issues, virtual reactor and virtual ADS, AI technology for the nuclear field and Monte Carlo simulation for medical and life science. The participants will be interested in these contemporary topics and gain beneficial insights for the future researches.

SNA+MC 2020 is hosted by the Computational Science and Engineering Division (CSED) of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ). The Organizing Committee is preparing the attractive conference for all the participants from the world with the cooperation of the International Advisory Board, the Local Organizing Committee chaired by Prof. Mitsuo Yokokawa, and the Technical Program Committee chaired by Prof. Kei Ito. The delegates will enjoy the stay in relaxed and exiting atmosphere of Japan. Recovery from the accident of the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant is steadily progressing and the Olympic Games are held in Tokyo in the summer of 2020. Please mark the date of SNA+MC 2020 on your calendar!
